Fertility Counselling

Counselling is available to couples (both heterosexual and same sex), single women and also for men.

Implications counselling

Implications counselling in some clinics is mandatory when you are using donor gametes (eggs and/or sperm) as part of your treatment plan. It is not analysis, it's not something to be scared of or concerned about.

Implications counselling provides an emotionally safe place in which to explore what your treatment will involve and the lasting implications for you and those close to you, including children born as a result of treatment. This type of counselling is especially useful for anyone using donated eggs or sperm or considering donating eggs or sperm.

Within the counselling room we have the opportunity to explore both the negative impact of your options and the possible outcome of treatment success, sometimes even harder to imagine, and to make well informed decisions regards next steps in treatment.

By exploring and accepting both the positives and the negative aspect of treatment we hope that you can then move forward with grounded, realistic optimism in your choices.

Support counselling

Recognising that going through fertility treatment can be distressing and have an impact on your relationships with others; support counselling provides an opportunity for you to explore feelings, coping strategies and relationship issues (with partners, family, friends & colleagues).

Clients might find that they need support at different stages of treatment, therefore support counselling can be undertaken before, during or after treatment.

Regional and online resource information is available at any stage of your treatment - do get in touch by email tracey@fertility-counselling.com

Therapeutic counselling

Therapeutic counselling gives an oppotunity to explore the impact of your past, your current situation and can provide support in enabling you to embrace a different future than you'd hoped or planned for.

Accepting your past
Exploring your present
Empowering your future

Counselling can be attended as an individual or as a couple; if you are in a relationship where your partner will take on parental responsibility of any children resulting from your treatment then both of you will need to attend any mandatory Implications Counselling sessions.

Counselling in some cases may also be available by telephone.
